On 9th July 2026, YONECO called on men in Chitipa District to play a more active role in family planning and family health, stating that their involvement is key to improving the well-being of families and communities.
The call was made during a community awareness session that was held at Chitipa Market. Participants discussed the importance of shared responsibility in family planning, open communication between partners, and early health-seeking behavior for couples. The session also addressed common misconceptions surrounding family planning.
Speaking during the meeting, one participant, Harry Mwakapenda, said the discussions had changed his perspective on men’s involvement in reproductive health.
“Family planning is not a woman’s responsibility alone. I will encourage my fellow men to support their partners and make informed health decisions together,” said Mwakapenda.
Participants were further encouraged to become champions of positive health practices and promote informed family planning decisions within their households and communities.
